Best hunting/ pocket knife brand?
Posted: May 12th, 2011 | Author: admin | Filed under: Questions | Tags: best brands, canada, gadgets, hunting knife, Pocket knife, swiss army knife | 11 Comments »I’m looking for a good pocket knife. Not a swiss army knife with all the gadgets, I find them pointless. I just want a normal hunting knife. What are the best brands to buy one online from? The only good one I know is Buck and I don’t even know if they ship to Canada.
Thanks

There are a couple of old sayings "you can’t go wrong with a Case" and "nothing compares to an Old Timer" either pocket knife will serve you well for decades.
old timer

it is not so much a hunting brand as a self-defense brand, however, they do make some hunting knifes, but my favorite is ‘cold steel,’ but really i would go to http://www.bladeops.com/ and shop around
Well I got this awesome pocket knife from Big 5 made by Jeep. it was 15 bucks and it has a knife, little flashlight, seat belt cutter and glass breaker.

that one but if you actually go inside and buy it. you can get it for $15
Benchmade.
I like Case knifes. They are durable, hold an edge well and have an excellent reputation. This is the one I carry into the field. It is called the Amber Bone Hunter Trapper. Although it does have a few “gadgets” the gut hook and saw make field dressing a deer quick work.

Every person has different opinions.
If buck will ship to Canada i say get one. I usually carry two buck knives in my pack when im hunting.
But i also usually carry another knife or two in my pocket.
One is a Kershaw Ram. it doesnt get used to clean animals but it gets used to cut anything needing cut. (rope, date notches on tags, the salami for my snack etc) so its just for everyday use.
then i usually have a "survival" knife. I lost my last one but im leaning towards a ZeroTolerance MUDD. I dont use this knife at all. It has a good durable edge and is dependable. so if i drop it in sand, mud, rock, water, off a cliff, or need to use it for survival tasks i know it will hold up.
While I prefer USA made outdoor products, many of the Buck knives are now being imported from China. So, having said that, if you want a good deal on a pocket knife, look at the newer Marbles brand folding knives. It’s a lot of knife for the money.
There are a lot of really good brands out there now, as mentioned by others — Case, Buck, Kershaw, Old Timer … it’s an endless list. Most are now manufactured in Japan or China, which makes them cheap, but of debatable quality if they get any hard use at all. I want a tough knife and am willing to pay more for it.
It’s more of a personal preference, really. Case is probably one of the finest made, but is a bit more expensive than a lot of the others since they’re actually made here in the US instead of being made in China and sold here. Even Marbles, once an old & trusted US brand, is now made in China (the price gives it away). Since I don’t trust Chinese quality much, I generally buy Case for myself or as gifts for someone else.
I have never had a Case disappoint me, or fail me in the field.
* A " Schrade Brand Uncle Henry "…
Buck knives are tried and proven – many are still made in USA.
