Is it legal for an under 16 to carry a swiss army knife around with him in the UK?

I’m 14 years old. I’ve recently got a swiss army knife for scouts. But away from scouts there has been so many situations where it would have been so useful. I was just wondering if it was legal to carry it around with me. The blades are under 3 inches, so smaller than the legal maximum. I also have NO intent on using it to harm someone. I would just use it as a tool. And also, just to be sure, would it matter if it’s in my pocket and not shown to the public?

Yes it is legal to carry it round. Just use common sense how you use it, and don’t wave it around like you’re going to try to stab someone.

Whether it’s legal or not, I wouldn’t give the police any cause, they are only after some one to pull in, as they have to get their quota, so don’t give them the chance.
