so i was wondering if it is legally ok to have it in my car for the off chance ill need it.
ive been looking up local knife laws and length restrictions and its all very confusing. i also would like an answer that specifically deals with Swiss Army knives and not other types of knives.

Keep the knife in the trunk and you will not have problems. I suggest putting it in an emergency kit.
the law years ago was the blade was to be 3.5 inches or smaller. Nothing automatic or balisong. I recently tried to find if it was updated, but couldn’t find anything. I keep a small Officers model and in a tool box I have a medium fixed blade. The one secret is to not carry anything "wicked" looking. The kind of crazy knife with a curved, or hook blade. No serrations either. A police officer in a good mood could overlook it your knife, or at most confiscated it. That is if you declare a weapon, when he asks if you have any weapons.
