I’m looking for a good pocket knife. Not a swiss army knife with all the gadgets, I find them pointless. I just want a normal hunting knife. What are the best brands to buy one online from? The only good one I know is Buck and I don’t even know if they ship to Canada.
In this review, I examine and compare the Victorinox Fireman and Hiker Swiss Army knives, also called SAKs. They are similar in tools but not in size and both are great for their intended purposes.
in this video i do show the factory sak tool and how to use it for change damaged, worn out plastic scales of sak. you can easy do that yourself using an simmilar tool or get the original factory tool from swissbianco.com
The best pocket knife is a Swiss Army knife, which was originally named, Offiziersmesser, but proved to be too difficult for many people to pronounce. It is most commonly known as the Swiss Army knife, and is equipped with many handy tools that can benefit almost any person. Usually available in either red or black, it is sold almost everywhere around the globe. Let’s take a look at some of the functions one can expect from this product.
History of the Swiss Army Knife
Because of its intent, there is a main blade and then a smaller secondary blade. The original also had a corkscrew, a can opener and a bottle opener. There is both a flat head and Phillips head screw driver, nail file and scissors. Other tools include a saw blade for wood, a file for metal, a hook to tighten the shoelaces of hiking boots.
As technology presented additional needs for human conditions, some additional tools have been added. Tweezers and toothpick were found to be handy, and a fish scaler were added for assisting with enjoying and preparing food that was caught in the wild. When on maneuvers for many months at a time, survival meant hunting and fishing to stay fed, and alive.
Recent Additions to the Pocket Knife
Some of the newer additions to this wonder are the magnifying glass and a ball point pen. A magnifying glass was typically used to start a fire by focusing using the lens to focus the rays of the sun on dried leaves, which produced enough spark to ignite a fire. This way, the soldiers could stay warm as well as cook a meal of naturally gathered foods.
A few more items which can be found on one of these pocket devices are a hex wrench with bits, and pliers. By using the hook and a pair of pliers, a person can easily make a shelter from the rain by using a rain slicker and string (or vines) to fashion a lean-to structure.
The computer industry took its toll on this product and made it possible to have a USB flash drive on the device, along with a digital clock and altimeter. You can even get a laser pointer, LED light and an MP3 player with these devices. The hex wrench and pliers have been found useful in maintaining related computer equipment, while traveling.
Catching Up to the 21st Century
In 2010, the laser pointer and 32GB detachable Fingerprint USB Flash Drive and Bluetooth technology were added, which makes the perfect portable pocket tool for any terrain, or social situation. If that isn’t enough, there are plans to make a version which is ‘flight allowed,’ for people who travel by airplane. This model won’t have any blades. Of course with changing airport security rules, there is no guarantee that this will always meet the required standards.

Christmas is speeding towards us and I am one of many who annually gets stuck with deciding over what to buy for whom.
Therefor my question: do you remember any gift(s) from you previous Christmas celebrations that made you laugh when put to use ? It doesn’t matter what it was (CD, toy, clothing, accessory, you name it), but I am always on the lookout for sth funny, sth heartwearming, something that cheers people up.
Aside from that, I of course also greatfully accept gift suggestions that are NOT related to humor / comedy but are as superb nonetheless .
I also love finding products / gadgets that come in handy, that are very practical to use and facilitate works (e.g. the Swiss army knife) or give comfort (hand-warmers for the winter) – pocket-sized items are the best .
Or even a book that is not related to the NYT best-seller list. I love finding "easter egg books", readings that are not (easily) to be found in any bookstore, contain valueable / surprising information / tips / hints.
To cut a long story short: what christmas gift suggestions do you have that you were thankful for receiving at some point ?
;- ) I am looking for presents for my parents, 2 brothers and one sister . They are all over the age of 16.
Thanks a lot in advance –
wow – you guys rock ! posted 5 minutes ago and already an influx of answers !
thanks, thanks, thanks.
one important detail I forgot to add: I’m just a regular university student over here in Germany so my budget is rather limited, as you can imagine. Looking for low priced items ;- )
Just found on eBay: book "Extraordinary Uses For Ordinary Things" by Reader’s Digest. that’s one of the categories I’m on the look-out for
I’m 14 years old. I’ve recently got a swiss army knife for scouts. But away from scouts there has been so many situations where it would have been so useful. I was just wondering if it was legal to carry it around with me. The blades are under 3 inches, so smaller than the legal maximum. I also have NO intent on using it to harm someone. I would just use it as a tool. And also, just to be sure, would it matter if it’s in my pocket and not shown to the public?
i am a security guard and my dad gave me a swiss army knife and he told me that it can be in handy but when i was going through it, i noticed that they have a reamer with a sewing eye and i dont know what it is for…does anybody know what it’s for?
i bought a Swiss Army knife while i was in Switzerland for vacation. now, i have frequently used it during fishing, camping and other outdoor activities. usually i never have it on me unless its been specifically packed into my gear for these types of situations. however, i have also found myself in UNplanned situations where having it would have been very convenient, only i DIDNT have it on me.
so i was wondering if it is legally ok to have it in my car for the off chance ill need it.
ive been looking up local knife laws and length restrictions and its all very confusing. i also would like an answer that specifically deals with Swiss Army knives and not other types of knives.
