This video shows a portion of my Swiss Army Knife collection. Just the Alox scaled models of my collection are in this video. I’m sure I missed some points that some will notice due to time constraints. If you have any questions or comments feel free to leave them below. Thanks for watching.

I wondered if you could tell me the length of the main blade on the famer model ? here in the UK the blade must be under 3 inches and not lock out for you to be able to carry it

just wonder if the Pioneer is thicker than the Cadet

Yes, without actually measuring it, the Pioneer is approximately 2mm thicker.

hey man, i just ordered the cadet black for $27, did i get ripped off?
anyways i was wondering how you sharpen the blades with…
good collection, i couldn’t find the cadet gun metal color :(

It’s a bit high, especially if it didn’t include shipping. I only sharpen my EDC SAK and it’s a Wenger Standard Issue. I don’t need to sharpen it very often but when I sharpen any knife I usually use a Smith’s Standard Knife Sharpening System. They seem to work well for what I want. Most of my SAK’s are collectors and I don’t use them. I imagine several of the Cadet colors are quickly becoming rare. I’m still searching for the Copper Cadet, it was the first color to become rare.

I’ve got the Singapore army issue Bantam , with textured black nylon scales , but it has a lanyard/key ring , odd your Alox version doesnt have one.

I like that hunter green cadet , I have a ribbed silver , with kinda a heart shaped sheild. I dont htink my cadet has an ingraving plate.

It sounds like you have two very nice collectibles. Any ribbed Alox knives are selling on eBay at pretty high prices lately. I’ve never seen a Singapore Army Issue Bantam, it must be interesting. I’ve gotten several more Alox SAK’s since I made this video. One is the Olive Green Cadet. They are becoming very hard to find now along with the gun metal. The only color I don’t have is the copper colored Cadet. It’s becoming a mythical beast. :-)

I kinda thought the cadet was a bit unusual , most cadets I see are the regular kind.+ I remember seeing it listed as rare somewhere.
I bought the singapore Bantam along with an Issue duffle bag , the knife was new in packet , the knife is unmarked , but the cardboard packet says property of S.A.F.. I just did a search , looks like SAF currently issue sog powerlock !
Interestingly I can see someone from singapore selling the same bantam on ebay. Not listed as SAF
    Item number: 110427883238

That is quite a difference for the Singapore Armed Forces to go from issuing a Bantam to a SOG PowerLock, :-) I thought the Bantam would have had some type of emblem on it like the GAK’s do. Still they are pretty cheap, with free shipping. Thanks for the heads up.

It is a bit of a jump.
I kinda accidentally started a mini ‘military issue’ knife collection .
Of course It started with my Vic Soldier I got 15 yrs ago. But I added an Australian army knife ,same as the british one but marked shelham and made in japan , a camillus ‘Demo’ knife , a vic german army knife ( the old one) Australian army swisstool ( in Black : ) ) wouldnt mind picking up a dutch army or the new soldier.

  12. 12 flashdamingo said at 4:06 pm on January 3rd, 2010:

The old soldier is a firm favourite , solid as , plenty of snap after 15 years. Its the hollow rivet type. If I see a wenger some time Ill get one , the bail would be really handy.
Maybe sometime Ill do some vids on these knives….

The riveted Soldiers are great collectibles. I’ve got a couple Camillus Demo knives. One typical US and a harder to find USN Demo knife. I’ve got a couple 108mm GAK’s, a Mauser, a DAK (KL92) and a new 111mm Soldier and GAK. I’ve heard the Dutch Army is starting to field a new 111mm One-Hand model too. The first knife is very nice i would consider buying it and using for small things and its always good to have a bottle opener, BUT in the uk if you are caught with any kind of knife you will be arrested

i really like the color of that blue farmer

  20. 20 manx1324 said at 5:08 pm on April 18th, 2010:

how much thinner is the alox classic sd than the regular classic sd with the plastc scales?

  21. 21 1jump2many said at 9:00 pm on April 18th, 2010:

The difference is very minimal. Maybe, and this is just a guesstimate, 1mm at the most. Alox scaled SAK’s seem sturdier but I think it’s also more of an aesthetic appeal. The Blue Farmer is a really nice SAK. The Farmer is one of my all time SAK’s and not many of any type of blue Alox is available.

  22. 22 predictions1000 said at 6:05 pm on April 20th, 2010:

Do the Alox ones get scratched as easily as the red plastic ones? Also, are they spray painted(silver ones) and will the paint scratch off? The plastic ones seem to be scratched up even when they are new>

  23. 23 1jump2many said at 7:18 pm on April 20th, 2010:

Alox does not scratch as easily as cellidor scales, but they will wear. It just all depends on how hard you are on the SAK. Some think a worn Alox scaled SAK is like SAK patina, :-)

Hey I have a vintage tinker from the 70′s and it has no toothpick or tweezer slots the reamer doesn’t have a hole in it and the screwdriver has a file on it do u want it?

  25. 25 1jump2many said at 10:22 am on April 23rd, 2010:

It sounds like a nice SAK and definitely a collector. I’m not interested but you may want to try MultiTool (dot) org. There are a lot of SAK collectors there. Good Luck.
